From July 22nd to July 24th an EO seminar was conducted at Centre de renforcement de la résilience à l’insécurité alimentaire et nutritionnelle au Sahel (P2RS) in Niamey.
The seminar focused on increasing the competency of participants in understanding the wider context of different satellite systems to support their operational responsibilities under the Sahel Irrigation Initiative Support Project and to provide participants with hands-on experience with the option for a national Crop mapping and Surface Water extent monitoring with high resolution Sentinel imagery.
The seminar was attended by 20 participants representing a broad range of stakeholders to the SIIP project incl. AGRHYMET, Ministry of Agriculture, the National Office for Irrigation Schemes (ONAHA) and the Nigeriens Nourish Nigeriens Initiative (HC3N). Overall, participants stated to be very satisfied with the content and methodology of the training providing them with a better overview of EO-services and better knowledge on how to pre-process data and conduct various analysis, which lays the foundation for defining effective implementation strategies.
